Merle Rosen
Merle Rosen, a practicing artist in Cincinnati has exhibited extensively in museums and galleries including the Contemporary Arts Center (Cincinnati), J.B. Speed Museum (Louisville, KY), Kharkiv Museum in the Ukraine, Cincinnati Art Galleries, and the Carnegie Arts Center (Covington, KY).
She received six individual artist grants from the City of Cincinnati, a fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center, and has been an artist-in-residence in Ohio and Washington State.
Her work is in private collections and she has undertaken numerous commissions in recent years including murals, CD covers and logo designs, and custom installations. Her work can also be found in the corporate collections of Bethesda Hospitals, Scripps Howard, Cardinal Aluminum, Cincinnati Bell, Ulmer & Berne and The Christ Hospital.
In addition to being a studio artist, Merle has taught fine arts at the university level and at community arts organizations for more than 40 years. Since 2005, as a member of Golden's Working Artists, Merle lectures and teaches workshops on paint products to artists of every level in university, college, museum, art group and art retailer settings throughout the Midwest. She currently teaches a broad range of painting, collage, and drawing workshops in her Cincinnati studio and at venues nationwide.
Her distinctive use of acrylics and collage are featured in two DVDs: "Acrylic Materials and Techniques for Expressive Painting with Merle Rosen" and "Step by Step Guide to Acrylic Collage with Merle Rosen."
